Regularly-updated content
Newsletter: Towards the end of each week, the Opportunity Wales eMail newsletter provides a digest of what’s been happening in the world of eCommerce and the Internet. It also features news on Opportunity Wales and associated programmes, forthcoming events, and much more, written in an easy-to-read style. By registering, you shall automatically receive each issue of the newsletter delivered to your eMail address, although you can unsubscribe and re-subscribe at any time.
Weblog: The Opportunity Wales Weblog is a frequently-updated, community resource of news, information, thoughts and opinions. By registering, anyone can add an entry to the Weblog. By adding entries to the Weblog, it will continue to be a resource that is highly regarded and used by the business community in Wales and elsewhere. Our user community looks forward to your Weblog entry!
Personalised news: Our personalised news section provides a regularly-updated source of announcements by Opportunity Wales and our partner organisations. It also features a number of external, professional news sources, covering Internet and eCommerce issues, updated every hour of every day.
Events calendar: The Opportunity Wales events calendar is one of the most comprehensive calendars in the country. It provides full information on events provided by Opportunity Wales and our partner organisations, as well as over 50 other organisations, for several weeks and often months in advance. You can also tailor the way in which you view and use the events calendar, by filtering events according to geographic location and/or business sector.
In-depth content and insight
Business Sector Profiles: The use of eCommerce in specific business sectors come under the spotlight in our profiles section. Each business sector that is profiled is furnished with a number of highly detailed, in-depth articles, which detail the sectors’ specific requirements and how eCommerce can provide specific assistance. Written by the eCommerce Innovation Centre, these articles focus on specific needs in addition to the more general advice provided in our “On-line guides” section available to public users.
Case Studies: Case studies are often the most popular reason why businesses in Wales register to use our additional features. Each case study is a highly detailed study of a particular Opportunity Wales client, detailing their history in relation to use of technology, how they have adopted eCommerce and Internet technologies, and the commercial successes they have enjoyed to date. The case studies are written by Opportunity Wales advisers, and also provide quotes and information on the company itself. We also have a specific section on companies that have used broadband technologies. If you have found our success stories interesting, you will definitely find inspiration in our case studies.
State of the Nation: This annual survey is a significant and comprehensive report on eCommerce and Internet usage by Welsh businesses. The content contains a wealth of data tables and charts, which accompany an in-depth commentary on how SMEs in Wales are adopting eCommerce and ICT technologies.
Archives
WOWe: Our quarterly national eCommerce magazine, WOWe, is available for all users. By registering, you can also access every single page of every single back issue.
Additional services
Opportunity Wales client directory: A fast, easy-to-use database is available to all registered users, which contains information on Opportunity Wales clients across the country, including contact details and Web site URL. As is the case with the events calendar, you can filter the view according to county and/or business sector, as well as perform a free text search. This feature allows you to find out the companies in your area which have become Opportunity Wales clients, as they may offer specific advantages which could help to stimulate local commercial relationships.
Briefcase: You may have seen a small, grey icon at the bottom of each page called “Briefcase”. By registering and subsequently logging into the site, you can ‘collect’ pages that you have found to be of use or wish to read in further detail at a later date, and store them in your personal briefcase area. This feature therefore provides a very handy “Favourites”-style feature, allowing you to make your own version of the Opportunity Wales Web site by collecting only the pages that you want to keep.
